Vale Barry Grennan

Barry Grennan joined the Rosanna Bowling Club on 27 August, 2016, from Heidelberg Golf Bowling Club, where he had played for a number of seasons.

It did not take Barry long to become an integral part of the Rosanna family, and he became involved in a number of areas of the Club in the seven years prior to his untimely passing.

It was in his nature to put his hand up to help out, as would our close friends and neighbours, the Macleod Football Club testify, and Barry involved himself in bar duties at both clubs, along with at Rosanna, selection committee, night pennant organisation and social bowls.

Barry loved his bowling, and the Macleod footy club.  He was very excited to be in the grand final team playing against Ivanhoe, a few short weeks ago, but was dirty on the result where Rosanna was beaten by two shots.

In his seven seasons at Rosanna, Barry played 175 Pennant games made up of 6 Midweek, 53 Night and 116 Saturday games.

It was a very unfortunate accident that contributed to Barry’s demise as he had a terrible fall at home, and sadly it was not discovered until some considerable time after the occurrence.  He was taken to hospital and placed on life support, however, the prognosis was not good, and the family had to make a very sad decision to switch off the support.

Barry passed away peacefully in hospital on 5th April, 2023.  Rosanna Bowling Club extends its condolences to Barry’s family.
