Hello fellow Goanna’s , a reminder of upcoming pennant preseason plans and training times ..

Only one month to go until we get into serious training for a successful pennant season. I will be returning from sunny Queensland shortly and will ramp up preseason training in the week commencing 21 August 2023.

PRE-SEASON PENNANT PRACTICE MATCHES

An intra club game will be held on Saturday 2 September to be followed by practice games against local clubs commencing with a game against Hurstbridge on Saturday 9 September, Eltham 16 September and Thornbury 23 September with game against Greensborough on 7 October. Preparation will finish with an intra club game on Saturday 14 October. It would be great if all members can make themselves available for these games.

WEEKLY TRAINING REGIME -THURSDAY WEEKLY

Initial pennant practice will commence on Thursday August 24 at 2.30pm and continue until 5.00pm (or darkness). Everyone is welcome to attend during this time. Early on we will be concentrating on skills activity drills and as the season progresses more emphasis will be placed on game plans, teamwork, tactical awareness and decision making under pressure. Once we get into September, I plan to separate the training into team levels with the higher sides commencing training a little later in the afternoon. In addition, from mid-September I will be also available for one-on-one coaching each Wednesday between 3.00pm and 5.00pm. In next month’s newsletter I will outline our goals for the season both team and individual, so until then good bowling and remember the little ring goes on the inside!
