Unfortunately the Fourths were beaten by 41 shots by a stronger Diamond Creek, to finish in third spot for the season. The First side could not recapture their form against Ivanhoe, of a few weeks ago and went down by 32 shots to be Section Runner-up.
However, the Second side covered themselves in glory, and once again proved too strong for the Montmorency side, winning by a very solid 37 shots, to claim a Section Grand Final for the Rosanna Bowling Club. It was a very strong win and it takes them onto the Division finals which will be played at Alphington Bowling Club, tomorrow, Sunday 1st March, commencing with a roll-up at 9:15am.
This year the format for the finals will be decided over 3 matches with the 8 Section winners randomly drawn to play for a spot in the semi finals. The four winners will play for a spot in the Grand Final. Each of the matches will be played over 12 ends.
The eight Section winners, and their winning margin today, were Palm Lake +12, Flemington/Kensington +19, Doutta Galla +21, Diamond Creek +24, Rosanna +37, Heathmont +3, Moorabbin +9 and Carrum +27. The Section winners appear to be fairly evenly matched based on the winning margins, and it should be a very open contest to find the Divisional winner.
In the Twos today Warren Williams, John Head, Jeff Cook and Gwenda Bail won 21 – 18. Peter Livingstone, Graham Bright, Colin Watson and Jack Dunbar won, 21 – 17. Damian Crea, Robbie Boxshall, Peter Burke and Debbie Jeong won, 22 – 16. Jim Gregory, Don Casey, Veronika Crea and Mark Files won, 39 – 15.
Rosanna 103, Montmorency 66.
Well done indeed to the Twos players. A dedicated and well deserved win. Also a huge vote of thanks to Neil Andrewartha, who once again was the side emergency, and erstwhile scoreboard updaterer. He did not miss a beat, and his tallying was superb.
Thanks also to Jane Edgcumbe for her meticulous work as the Umpire, right down to merest millimetre.
Unfortunately, Michelle Robertson became unwell during the course of the Fourths game, and was replaced by the emergency, Kale Files. We hope Michelle has a speedy recovery, and thank Kale for stepping up.
In signing off, as I keep saying, “the reward of a thing well done, is to have done it”.
Let’s all do it.
Go get ’em. The Tout.
