Well Hello and Welcome To 2026

Have you ever believed in fairy tales? Perhaps some of us do, perhaps some of us don’t. Well I’ll tell you my version of Sleeping Beauty.

You know she was a sweet young thing who pricked her finger with a sewing needle when she was 16 yeaars of age, and because of a curse by some nasty piece of work, fell into a deep, deep sleep, only to be woken after years in dreamland, by the tender and loving kiss of a handsome prince.

So, I’ve been like Sleeping Beauty, and went happily off to Noddyland after handing the reigns over to my cousin, The Lizard, however, it retired and nobody took up the posting of results on the Club’s website. That was sad, because the five readers who used to sweat on the Lizard’s column were dreadfully distressed.

So what happened? A handsome young prince apparently came to me and tenderly kissed my brow, awakening me and proposing to me. His proposal was that RBC was desperate to shout the news of the weekly on field battles of its teams, in the game of Lawn Bowls, and would I arise from the dead and have another go at putting something on the web.

Well people, I can tell you that I AM BACK. Because this prince was so desperate in his plea, I felt for him and decided to once again take up the pen and deliver unto you the news of the contest.

So my friends (?) the TOUT HAS RETURNED!!

I will post the results of the remaining 6 rounds of the midweek comp and the remaining 5 rounds of the weekend comp. Where possible I may add comment about good and bad things that happened rink-wise, selection-wise and any other wise. So be prepared. Nothing will be off the table.

I give you the right to enhance anything I say, or contradict/argue any point you may wish, but this is what the prince wanted, and I’ll do my best to comply.

To the five loyal readers of The Lizard’s column, I hope you are pleased that there will be something to inform you about results from next week. If you like what you get, tell a friend and let’s see if we can increase the readership numbers. Who knows, people might even see their name in print.

I am informed that there has been some change to the Selection Committee since the commencement of the season, so let’s hope the new gurus get it right and RBC comes home with a wet sail to perform well in finals.

Remember, THE TOUT IS OUT AND ABOUT.
The other thing to remember is the reward of a thing well done is to have done it.

Enjoy.
