A great day for Rosanna’s weekend pennant Third side yesterday. After a slow start the Goannas got on top of their opposition, and all four rinks greeted the judge to ensure a place in next Saturday’s final against Wallan, at a venue to be advised. It also ensured promotion next season, to Division 5, a well earned reward for the team.
It was a fairly even start to the match, but Lalor edged ahead minutely after a dozen or so ends. Then Rosanna hit its straps and gradually drew away during the day, to record a 95 – 60, 35 shots up, win. Nobody succumbed to the conditions which were ideal for bowling, and perhaps playing straight through worked to Rosanna’s advantage, as their concentration was maintained throughout the day.
The Club congratulates all the players for their contribution to this result. At the same time, thanks to Peter Bell, who sat around all day as the Reserve, but was not required to play, to Colin Watson, who acting as Manager for the team, is guiding them through the finals series, and to Don Casey for handing out the sugar hits to keep the players energised.
Bob Dunbar, Terrye Meade, Simon Matthews and Leo Bosso, 20-13, +7.
Paul Bassett, Ralph Moulden, Gary Veale and Glenn Lyons, 22-15, +7.
Noel Broadhurst, Ray Prestney, Dennis Swift and Brian Tipping, 31-14, +17.
Jack Dunbar, Robin Doherty, Jane Edgcumbe and Bec Merrick, 22-18, +4.
Rosanna 95, Lalor 60, +35.
There will be a practice session for the team on Thursady, 6th March, 3:30/4:00pm.
Keep ’em rolling.
