So, onto the results as of 26 March. In the Women’s Pairs Rachael Powers and Debbie Nixon were beaten by Ryan and Renshaw, 9/17 in the last 16, and Veronjka Crea and Susan Evans were beaten 11/15 in the last 16. Our girls did very well to reach finals, and we congratulate them on their fine effort.
In the Women’s Singles, Fiona Tennant, playing in her maiden Victorian Open, met a strong opponent in Natalie Cousin (Longwarry) and was beaten 4/21. Although it was a big margin we hope the experience was rewarding, and that Fiona had a great time.
In the Women’s Triples Margaret Hunt, Rachael Powers and Debbie Nixon won R1, 17/11, won R2, 18/9, but lost R3, 13/16. Unfortunately , they missed first position in the Section on percentage.
The Men’s Singles saw Aaron Van Haaften win R1, over Peter Snyders (Middle Park) 21/13, have a bye in R2 and win R3, over Matthew Eccles (Traralgon) 20/19, which was enough to take him into the finals. He had a bye in the first final and will play Chris Ward (Ferntree Gully) in the second Final today.
Andrew Dalli played Bryan Biasci (Narre Warren) in R1, for a 21/13 win, then a R2 bye and faced up to Barry Orr (Darwin) for a 13/21 loss. Unfortunately Andrew finished second in the Section.
Rod Kerrison had a bye in R1, played Billy Nisbett (Moe) in R2 for a 21/19 win, and Arnold Spicer (Heathmont) in R3 for another win, 21/9. Rod also won the Section, has a bye in the first final and will play Andrew Burton (Frankston) in the second final today.
In the Men’s Triples, Gary Ingley (Warragul) replaced Dan Hartrick and joined Alan Mason and Rod Kerrison. In R1 they won 20/10, R2 they won 15/11 and R3 won 26/7 making it a clean sweep of the Section. In the first final they won a nail biter, 15/14, however, met their match in the second final going down by 7 shots, 10/17. It was a really good effort by the lads,
Our other team in the Triples, Aaron Van Haaften, Geoff Hill (Mitcham) and Andrew Dalli, won R1, 13/9, but ,unfortunately lost R2, 12/14 and R3, 11/18, to halt their progress.
So, well done to all the Rosanna players, you have done the Club proud.
