In the Mixed Pairs , Section 1, Margaret Hunt and Alan Mason played Hipworth and Randell for a win, 13/10. They played Stewart and Dunstan in a 1 shot loss, 14/15. They played Yip and Ching in a 15/8 win for a 2:1 ratio. Unfortunately they were beaten on percentage as winner of the Section, by Hipworth/Randell – 174.07% to 127.27%.
Fiona Tennant and Aaron Van Haaften played in Section 8, against some stiff competition in Am/Lang, 8/15, Andrews/Meadows, 12/14 and Sutton/Sutton, 12/16.
Rachael Powers and Andrew Dalli had very good opening rounds and won against Murphy/Murphy 22/4. Against Jenkins/Curtain they played a 13/13 tie and against Chenney/Hunt another win, 13/11. That got them into the Finals and in their first final they won against Kiss/Heaton-Harris, 12/11. They ran up against a stronger team in the second final, Rogers (Glenroy) and Cartwright (Bendigo) and went down 9/18. A very good effort against some of the State’s best.
Debbie Joeng and Rod Kerrison contested Section 29 and won Round 1 against McCormick/Meyers, 15/12. Round 2 saw a bit of a hiccup and they lost to Yelen/Yelen, 9/19, however, they bounced back in Round 3, to beat Perris/Hunt, 18/7. Unfortunately, percentage held them out of winning the Section – 110.53/113.89.
All in all a very good showing in the Mixed Pairs by the Rosanna people.
We have exciting news in the Women’s Pairs as all of the Rosanna players are in the Finals which are being played today. Rachael Powers, playing with Debbie Nixon (Mitcham) had a 17/7 win in Round 1, a 13/15 loss in Round 2 and a 19/12 win in Round 3, which got them into the first finals round which they won against Thomas /Sutton, 16/13. They will face off against Ryan (Deer Park)/Renshaw (Ocean Grove) today.
Veronika Crea, playing with Susan Evans (Ivanhoe) won Round 1, 21/6, Tied Round 2, 13 all, and won Round 3, 19/12. Into Round 1 of Finals and they beat Miller/Skipworth, 16/14. They play King (Ivanhoe)/Hall (Bundoora) today.
The Men’s Pairs saw Andrew Dalli and Aaron Van Haaften lose their first round 5/19, win their second round 22/7 and win their third round 14/12, which put them in second spot in the Section.
Rod Kerrison and Alan Mason won R1, 19/8, lost R2, 12/16 and won R3, 17/11, making it into second place in the Section.
Tony Sherwill playing with Troy Stafford (Yarra Glen) lost R1, 13/14, Tied R2, 10/10 and won R3, 20/9, to finish second in the section.
So there we have it for the time being, with the Ladies Pairs finals results to come later today, and the Men’s and Women’s Singles and Triples to be decided later in the week.
