Hello Bowlers,
Apologies for the lateness of this report, however, due to some minor technical difficulties I was unable to put it together until now, but they say it is better late, than not at all. I hope that is the truth of it. So, we went into week two on the back of all sides up in the first round. We were not quite as fortunate in the second stanza, but we did well with two sides continuing their winning way, and one side going down narrowly.
The First Side played a very strong Essendon team at home and managed to collect two points for the day through the courtesy of Warren Williams rink. With Robin Doherty leading, Margaret Hunt playing second and Peter Livingstone third, the rink played very well for a 12 shot win, 22 -10.
Chris Ball, Tony Campbell-Burns, John Aldridge and Alan Mason fought hard, but were 9 shots in arrears at the end of the day, 14 – 23.
Gwenda Bail, Kevin Meade, Jeff Cook and Damian Crea had a battle and went down by 12 shots, 9 – 21.
Rosanna 45, Essendon 54, minus 9.
The Second Side went to Fairfield and held their own for an overall win with two rinks tieing, and the third winning outright, earning Rosanna 14 points.
Rob Barclay, Lorraine Campbell, Veronika Crea and Jim Gregory tied 24 all.
Louisa Hemingway, Nicole Carriero, Mil Crea and Leo Bosso won 29 – 18, plus 11.
Russell Hyde, Colin Watson, Peter Bell and Glenn Lyons tied with 23 shots apiece.
Rosanna 76, Fairfield 65, plus 11
The Third Side earned 15 points playing at home against Eltham, in a very good win. Two rinks had solid performances whilst the third rink had an interesting contest that resulted in a tie.
Kevin Nelson, Tony Canty, Ken Barr and Don Casey blitzed 36 – 9, 27 shots up.
Terry Meade, Rob Hunt, Alan Phillips and John Head, tied at 18 all.
Noel Broadhurst, Paul Bassett, Ray Prestney and Kay Plain, excelled with a 34 – 13 win, plus 21.
So a very good win for the side, and hopefully they can continue in that vein.
Milestone this week was Colin Watson playing his 150th Midweek game. Congratulations Colin, well done.
Best winning rink was that of Kevin Nelson, Tony Canty, Ken Barr and Don Casey with 27 shots up.
On WEDNESDAY this week the First’s will play Buckley Park 1 away, the Second’s will play at home hosting Eltham 2, and the Third’s will travel up the road to Heidelberg Golf. Have a great day all, and keep winning
Keep ’em rolling.
