Round Ten Midweek Pennant

Hello Bowlers,

Back from the break and it seems the rest has been of benefit to the Rosanna midweek sides, for all three teams had good wins heading to the downhill side of the season.  The Firsts entertained Buckley Park at home and won by 12, the Seconds went to Eltham and won by 52 and the thirds hosted Heidelberg Golf and won by 71.  Great start to the resumption of hostilities and puts all teams in with a chance at the business end of proceedings.

The Firsts played Buckley Park who were 7th on the ladder, however, it was not a walk in the park for Rosanna.  One rink down, but two up got us over the line in a keen tussle, as the opposition were a far stronger side than the one we played against in the first part of the season. It was a good win however, and sees Rosanna in 3rd place on the ladder with 100 points, and facing up next week to Strathmore (A) who are 5th on 66 points.

Gwenda Bail, Kevin Meade, Jeff Cook and Damian Crea, 22-13, +9.

Chris Ball, Tony Campbell-Burns, Mil Crea and Alan Mason, 14-23, -9.

Jack Dunbar, Margaret Hunt, John Aldridge and Warren Williams, 26-14, +12

Rosanna 62, Buckley Park 50, +12, 14 points.

The Second side went up to Eltham who were top of the ladder, one point ahead of us. Playing on their new synthetic, the Rosanna people showed them how it should be done, adjusting to the Eltham green as if it were Rosanna’s.  The 16 points puts Rosanna in first place, and facing up to Diamond Creek (H) 7th on the ladder with 47 points.

Rob Barclay, Eddie Sheean, Paul Gregory and Jim Gregory, 31-9, +22.

Paul Bassett, Nicole Carriero, Veronika Crea and Leo Bosso, 28-10, +18.

Robin Doherty, Colin Watson, Peter Bell and Glenn Lyons, 21-9, +12.

Rosanna 80, Eltham 28, +52, 16 points.

The Third side played a hapless Heidelberg Golf and had a huge win with three rinks up and 16 points which gives them a good lead at the top of the ladder on 137 points, and coming up against City of Heidelberg at home next week.  They are 4th on 80 points.

Kevin Nelson, Tony Canty, Ken Barr and Don Casey, 32-12, +20.

Terrye Meade, Russell Hyde, Phil Hynes and John Head, 27-12, +15.

Noel Broadhurst, Alan Phillips, Ray Prestney and Kay Plain, 40-4, +36.

Rosanna 99, Heidelberg Golf 28, +71.

So, in a big week results wise, we can add to it by congratulating Robin Doherty for clocking up his 450th Club game, and Peter Bell for his 100th midweek game.  Add to that the Best Winning Rink for the day – Kay Plain, Ray Prestney, Alan Phillips and Noel Broadhurst, with a whopping 36 shots up, and it could be said that the Midweekers had a fair outing.  Well done all.

Keep ’em rolling.

The Lizard.
