Round Nine Midweek Pennant

Hello Bowlers,

The last round before the Christmas break has now been completed with excellent results for Rosanna.  The three sides all had wins, and in doing so dropped only one rink.  The results put the Rosanna teams in a strong position going into the final five rounds, and all things being equal, should have them playing in at least Week 1 of the finals series.  Well done to all players for your creditable performances.

The First side travelled to Essendon to take on a strong, unbeaten team who had the upper hand when the sides met in round 2, at Rosanna.  Different story this time, and in a sustained showing of high performance bowling by Rosanna, the three rinks were too strong for the previously unvanquished opponent and inflicted Essendon’s first defeat for the season.

Gwenda Bail, Kevin Meade, Jeff Cook and Damian Crea, 25-16, +9.

Chris Ball, Tony Campbell-Burns, Mil Crea and Alan Mason, 21-19, +2.

Jack Dunbar, Margaret Hunt, John Aldridge and Warren Williams, 21-15, +4.

Rosanna 67, Essendon 50, +17, 16 points,3rd on ladder with 86 points, play Buckley Park (H) 7th on 42 points upon resumption.

The Second side played at home hosting 8th placed Fairfield, and had a comfortable 30 shot win with two rinks up, gaining 14 points and sitting in 2nd spot on 99 points.

Rob Barclay, Ed Sheean, Paul Gregory and Jim Gregory, 24-7, +17.

Louisa Hemingway, Nicole Carriero, Veronika Crea and Leo Bosso, 35-19, +16.

Robin Doherty, Colin Watson, Peter Bell and Glenn Lyons, 15-18, -3.

Rosanna 74, Fairfield 44, +30, 14 points, play Eltham 2 (A) 1st on 100 points, after the break.

The Third side went to Eltham (6th) and played on their new carpet, maintaining their unbeaten run with three rinks up.

Noel Broadhurst, Russell Hyde, Ray Prestney and Kay Plain, 34-10, +24.

Alan Phillips, Paul Bassett, Ralph Moulden and Don Casey, 26-17, +9.

Terrye Meade, Rob Hunt, Phil Hynes and John Head, 23-12, +11.

Rosanna 83, Eltham 39, +44, 16 points, 1st on 121 points, play Heidelberg Golf (8th) 14 points, when we go back.

Best winning rink today was Kay Plain, Ray Prestney, Russell Hyde and Noel Broadhurst with 24 shots up.  Well played.

There were no milestones to report this week.

May everyone have a joyous and peaceful festive season, and come back refreshed to pick up the reins and continue in the vein of the first part of the season.

Keep ’em rolling.

The Lizard.
