Hello Bowlers,
We have now completed Round 4 and our three teams are faring well. Even though the First side had a loss yesterday, they retain fourth spot on the ladder, whilst the Second and Third sides sit at the top of the table. It is satisfying to see the teams performing well in the early part of the season, but with three rounds to go before we reach the half-way mark, we cannot afford to rest on our laurels, and need to keep the nose to the grindstone.
The First side played at home against Strathmore and had two winning rinks out of the three.
Gwenda Bail, Kevin Meade, Jeff Cook and Damian Crea, 23 -22, plus 1.
Chris Ball, Tony Campbell-Burns, Jim Gregory and Alan Mason, 26 – 21, plus 5.
Robin Doherty, Margaret Hunt, Peter Livingstone and Warren Williams, 11 – 25, minus 14.
Rosanna 60, Strathmore 68, minus 8, 4 points, fourth on ladder with 34 points. Next week play Ivanhoe at Ivanhoe who are 8th on ladder with 6 points.
The Second side went to Diamond Creek and also had two winning rinks on an “interesting” green.
Rob Barclay, Lorraine Campbell, Veronika Crea and Mil Crea, 22 – 13, plus 9.
Alan Phillips, Nicole Carriero, John Aldridge and Leo Bosso, 15 – 25, minus 10.
Jack Dunbar, Colin Watson, Peter Bell and Glenn Lyons, 25 – 15, plus 10.
Rosanna 62, Diamond Creek 53, plus 9, 14 points, 1st on ladder with 53 points. Next week play North Balwyn at home who are 3rd on the ladder with 41 points.
The Third side went to City of Heidelberg and were accommodated on the “bottom” green in front of the club house. All three rinks saluted the judge, one rink setting up their win very early in the game, the other two coming from behind late in the piece to secure their wins.
Paul Bassett, Tony Canty, Ken Barr and Don Casey, 27 – 18, plus 9.
Terrye Meade, Rob Hunt, Phil Hynes and John Head, 22 – 19, plus 3.
Noel Broadhurst, Russell Hyde, Ray Prestney and Kay Plain, 26 – 12, plus 14.
Rosanna 75, City of Heidelberg 49, plus 26, 16 points, 1st on ladder with 59 points. Next week play Diamond Creek at home who are 5th on the ladder with 30 points.
Best winning rink for the day was Noel Broadhurst, Russell Hyde, Ray Prestney and Kay Plain with 14 shots up. Well done.
Milestones on the day were Leo Bosso with 200 midweek games to his credit, and Don Casey who played his 700th club game. Has he been around that long?
Keep ’em rolling.
