Round Eleven Weekend Pennant

Hello Bowlers,

I’m very disappointed to have to report that it was a miserable Saturday for the Rosanna sides today, as none of the sides had an overall win.  The First side went down by four shots, the Second side by 10 shots and the Fourth side by 25 shots.  The Third side had a Bye.  With three games to play it is going to be a battle to retain spots in the four, which means the Selectors have to get it right, and the players have to do their part.  It really is coming to the pointy end of the season, and we all need to think about how we approach our game, and each bowl that we deliver.  I am sure we have the fire to prevail, and certain that everyone will think about what is at stake when they step onto the mat, in the next three weeks.

Side 1 played at Rosanna against Bundoora, and although we had three rinks up, there were not enough shots to cover the deficit of our fourth rink.

Margaret Hunt, Chris Ball, Warren Williams and Alan Mason, 16-15, plus 1.

Dan Hartrick, Peter Burke, Rowan Sharp and Marcus Hadley, 19-18, plus 1.

Matty Ferguson, Kevin Meade, Damian Crea and Damian Jardine, 22-13, plus 9.

Mil Crea, John Aldridge, Peter Livingstone and Rod Kerrison, 12-27, minus 15.

Rosanna 69, Bundoora 73, minus 4, six points, second spot on 116 points.  Next week play Hurstbridge 1, away.

The Second side went to Bundoora in a must win game, but fell short by 10 shots with two rinks up, and two rinks down.  Because of other results in the draw, Rosanna has now slipped to bottom spot on the ladder on 88 points.  Their chances of playing finals are all but gone, however, with a concerted effort they need to rise two spots to avoid relegation.

Gwenda Bail, Colin Watson, Leo Bosso and Don Casey, 23-14, plus 9.

Debbie Jeong, Nicole Carriero, Steve Kovac and Jeff Cook, 15-34, minus 19.

John Couling, Fiona Tennant, Kay Plain and Jim Gregory, 21-23, minus 2.

Graeme Bravo, Veronika Crea, Graham Bright and John Head, 18-16, plus 2.

Rosanna 77, Bundoora 87, minus 10, four points, eighth with 88 points.  Next week play East Ivanhoe 1, 5th, at home.

The Third side had a Bye.  They are third on the ladder and next week play last placed Strathmore, at Strathmore.

The Fourth side went to Camberwell to face Camberwell Central and came away with only two points.  Fortunately, they had a good hold on fourth spot thereby holding their position.

Trevor Robertson, Gerry Sheean, Russell Hyde and Paul Gregory, 23-20, plus 3.

Cory Quilliam, John Tannock, Gae Messina and Tony Campbell-Burns, 14-27, minus 13.

Tony Canty, Michelle Robertson, Luke Roche and Eddie Sheean, 17-28, minus 11.

Tim Pullyblank, Kale Files, Peter Bell and Bruce McDonald, 13-17, minus 4.

Rosanna 67, Camberwell Central 92, minus 25, two points, fourth on 98 points.  Next week play Templestowe 2, eighth, at home.

The milestone for today was Kay Plain playing her 500th game for Rosanna.  Well done indeed Kay.  Congratulations and may there be many, many more.

The best winning rink was shared between the First and Second sides, with Damian Jardine, Damian Crea, Kevin Meade and Matty Ferguson, in the ones and Don Casey, Leo Bosso, Colin Watson and Gwenda Bail, in the twos, each winning with 9 shots up.

So there it is folks.  A little soul searching during the week, and let’s bounce back bigger and better next Saturday.

And something for you to ponder as you head into next week – You’re never too old to learn something stupid.

Keep ’em rolling.

The Lizard.

Well, here we go. The final home and away game for the 2024-25 season. But it is never too late to stop doing the same over and over if you are not getting the different result you hoped to achieve. Bad habit means many tend to make the same mistakes over and over...

Hello Bowlers, The heat got to us yesterday and all three teams had to share the points with their opposition.  The good thing is that we held our positions on the ladder.  There are still two rounds to be played, so we have to keep ourselves honest, and finish as...
