Hello Bowlers,
Another excellent result for Rosanna’s Midweek bowlers yesterday with eight of the nine rinks having a win, the losing rink missing out by 1 shot after coming back from 9 down at one stage. It puts the First side in third spot on the ladder with three games to play, whilst the Second and Third sides sit at the top of the table. Still a lot of bowls to be bowled, so it’s no time for complacency, or smugness. There is still a job to do, so let’s stay focussed folks, and see the job through to the end.
The First side played Strathmore at Strathmore and had a 19 shot win. A good result on a green we rarely have played on.
Gwenda Bail, Kevin Meade, Jeff Cook and Damian Crea, 21-11, +10.
Chris Ball, Tony Campbell-Burns, Mil Crea and Alan Mason, 23-17, +6.
Jack Dunbar, Margaret Hunt, John Aldridge and Warren Williams, 20-17, +3.
Rosanna 64, Strathmore 45, +19, 16 points, 3rd on ladder. Next week play Ivanhoe (5th, 77 points) at Rosanna.
The Second side hosted Diamond Creek and had a solid win with three rinks up.
Rob Barclay, Eddie Sheean, Paul Gregory and Jim Gregory, 23-16, +7.
Paul Bassett, Nicole Carriero, Veronika Crea and Leo Bosso, 23-15, +8.
Robin Doherty, Phil Hynes, Colin Watson and Glen Lyons, 24-12, +12.
Rosanna 70, Diamond Creek 48, +27, 16 points, 1st on ladder. Next week play North Balwyn, 6th on 82 points, at North Balwyn.
The Third side played City of Heidelberg at home and took away the points with two rinks up and one down by 1 shot.
Terrye Meade, Russell Hyde, Ralph Moulden and John Head, 18-15, +3.
Lorraine Campbell, Tony Canty, Ken Barr and Don Casey, 18-19, -1.
Noel Broadhurst, Alan Phillips, Ray Prestney and Kay Plain, 20-12, +8.
Rosanna 56, City of Heidelberg 46, +10, 14 points, 1st on ladder. Next week play Diamond Creek, 5th on 76 points, at Diamond Creek.
The Best Winning Rink yesterday went to that of Glenn Lyons, Colin Watson, Phil Hynes (up from the Threes) and Robin Doherty, with a 12 shot advantage. Well done lads.
The only Milestone yesterday, but a very worthy one it must be said, was the achievement by Jeff Cook in reaching 600 Club games played for Rosanna. Well done Jeff – an excellent achievement.
Now we gear up for Round 12.
Keep ’em rolling.
The Lizard.
