Round 12 of Midweek Pennant has come and gone. Unfortunately it brought with it the demise of our Second and Third sides in that neither will feature in the finals this season. However, that does not mean that we give up on them. There sre still two rounds to be played and they are winnable games if we are keen enough. Let’s look forward with positivity and show the competition that Rosanna are no easy beats.
On the other hand the First side had a good win over Ivanhoe and moved back into second place on the ladder. They will certainly face off in the finals, and two strong wins to see out the home and home games, will boost confidence no end.
In the Ones, Phil McMahon’s rink overcame a slow start to hit the front around half way through, and were never headed after that. They went on to win by 3 shots in a steady performance. Alan Mason’s rink found the going a bit harder, and after a spirited comeback to draw level, could not quite maintain the rage, falling short by 9 shots. Warren Williams rink played very well to ensure a Rosanna victory on alien turf. Their 17 shot win contributed to Rosanna regaining the double chance at this stage, however, the side cannot afford to become complacent, as there is still much to do before packing the bowls away for another year.
Next week the Ones play City of Heidelberg (7th) away.
The Second side found Montmorency far too strong and went down by 34 shots. One tiny ray of light was Glenn Lyons rink which turned the tide to greet the judge by 5 shots. Next week the side will host Whittlesea (6th).
The Third side had an even more disastrous day, with no rinks winning and going down to Diamond Creek by 27 shots, at Diamond Creek. Next week they will travel to Whittlesea (4th) to do battle.
The best winning rink on the day was Warren Williams, Margaret Hunt, Kevin Meade and Gwenda Bail with 17 shots up. Well done you.
Hearty congratulations are extended to Leo Bosso for his 500th game. Still wicking Leo?
A couple of other snoozers tallied up 100 club games last Saturday too. Congratulations to Paul Bassett and Peter Burke.
In signing off this week, remember what I keep saying, “the reward of a thing well done, is to have done it”.
Let’s all do it, and what about one of our selectors who found a book called “How To Solve 50% Of Selection Problems” so they bought two copies. See ya!
The Tout.
