What can I say? Very little to report from Saturday’s virtual non-event. I thought BV had cancelled the round because of the extreme heat prediction, but apparently not so. A couple of clubs, here and there, obviously played early because there are some results and in the sections in which we compete. So, I will tell you what I know.
In the section in which our No.1 side plays, Donvale defeated Doncaster, 15 points to 3, all other sides received 9 points each. This means Rosanna still sits in 5th spot on 86 points, 2 behind 4th placed Greensborough. This Saturday (31st) we play Doncaster (7th) away. G’boro’ play Eltham (3rd) at home. Must win game for the Goannas, with only two rounds remaining after this weekend.
In the section in which the No.2 side play, Montmorency beat Blackburn earning them 16 points. All other sides were awarded 9 points each. Rosanna are still on top with 170 points, but Mont have closed the gap. This Saturday we host Bennetswood (3rd) and Mont play Chadstone (4th) at Mont. These four sides are most likely to be the final four.
The section in which the Third side play did not contest any matches and all sides were awarded 9 points. Rosanna remains in 6th place and this week travels to Diamond Creek (1st). We are 24 points shy of 4th spot, so it will be a challenge, but not an impossible task.
The section in which the Fourth side competes also played no games, meaning 9 points for everyone. Rosanna (3rd) entertains Diamond Creek (5th) at Rosanna, going into the game 20 points up. Not the time to be complacent with the top 5 spots reasonably open at this stage. We certainly do not want to be the side in 5th spot at the end of regular pennant games.
Work hard Goannas, and above all have some fun and enjoy the experience.
In signing off, remember what I keep saying, “the reward of a thing well done, is to have done it”.
Let’s all do it, and I agree with John Head’s comment that, “the most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed”.
The Tout.
