The day began cool and bleak, and the Valley got away to a good start sprinting to a 27 – 3 lead. Rosanna played some very good shots, however, the rub of the green was not going their way. At the lunch break Rosanna was three rinks down and it looked like a decisive victory heading Moonee Valley’s way.
However, as is often the case after a break in play, some Valley players went off the boil a little, and Rosanna players picked up on their game. Little by little, Rosanna clawed back the deficit, and with one end to be played, Rosanna was 3 shots down. It was a very tense final end that could have gone either way, however, Moonee Valley came away with 1 shot to give them a 4 shot victory in the match. There is no doubt they received a big fright, and due credit is extended to all the Rosanna players for hanging in and not giving the game away when it would have been easy to do so.
Alan Mason, Don Casey, Veronika Crea and Chris Ball (15 – 23).
Damian Crea, Phil McMahon, Jeff Cook, and Mil Crea (15 – 21).
Warren Williams, Margaret Hunt, Kevin Meade and Gwenda Bail (26 – 16)
An excellent win by Warren’s rink.
Rosanna 56, Moonee Valley 60.
Big couple of days for Don Casey who played his 200th Midweek Pennant game today, and by virtue of the two finals games he played Sunday, clocked up 550 Weekend Pennant games to make it 750 Club games for Rosanna.
Congratulations must be extended to ALL players who appeared for the First side throughout the season. Everyone contributed to getting in to today’s game, although only 12 could represent Rosanna on the green today, but your contribution is recognised.
Thanks also to those who came to add their support, it is appreciated.
Time for me to catch up with my old mate, The Lizard. Thanks for having me.
See ya – The Tout.
