Midweek Pennant Round Nine

Finally we are back into it, although, looking at the results it may have been better to have an extra week off to loosen up. Having said that our erstwhile selectors were a bit under the pump with unavailabilities and having patched up sides to put on the green. In fact I believe there was a desperate call out as late as Monday night, for an extra player to ensure we had three full teams competing. Well done to the player who answered the call.

So, three teams out there today, nine rinks contesting the points, but only two rinks successful in beating home the opposition. One of those two rinks was amazingly adroit in dealing with the crisis, and got the whole team over the line. A great effort indeed, given that two of the regular players in that rink, were not in it. I wonder if the Selectors will consider leaving that rink unchanged?

In short, the Ones got up, the Twos and the Threes got hammered. Hopefully it’s only an aberration and next week will see the Ones continuing on their merry way, whilst the Twos and Threes will bounce back and surprise the world.

The best winning rink went to Alan Mason, Simon Matthews, Veronika Crea and Leo Bosso with a very creditable 17 shots up. Well done to you.

Next Tuesday, 20 January, the Ones play top side Moonee Valley at Rosanna. The Twos play Hurstbridge away and the Threes play Greensborough at home. Let’s up and at ’em.

I am not aware of any milestones today, so if I have missed your big note, I apologise and will endeavour to give you a wrap next week.

In signing off, remember what I said in my re-introductory diatribe on Sunday evening, “the reward of a thing well done, is to have done it”.

Let’s all do it.

Nice to be back – The Tout.
