The last game for the season for Rosanna Bowling Club, was played yesterday when our Third side faced off against Kingsbury, at Bundoora Bowling Club. The game was very close all day and once again, it came down to the last end before we had a definite winner. Unfortunately for our Club it turned out to be Kingsbury, who got home by two shots. The weather conditions in terms of heat, deteriorated as the day progressed, and a few people were glad to see the final end completed, however, the Rosanna players did their best and got through without any replacement having to be made.
Thank you to everyone who contributed at some stage during the season to get the Third side to where it was, and gaining a promotion to Div. 4 next season. Particular thanks must go to Kay Plain for her passion for not only the Third side, but for the Rosanna Bowling Club. Your work is appreciated.
As I mentioned earlier, it was a very close match all day, and Kay’s rink was the last to finish. Going in to their last end, Kingsbury held a three shot lead on the big board. With six of the eight bowls to be delivered, Rosanna was holding one shot at the head with Kingsbury’s second shot sitting on our shot bowl. The opposition’s last bowl was ineffective and Rosanna had an opportunity to eliminate the second shot. Our last shot missed taking out the offending bowl and Rosanna went down by two.
Terrye Meade, Rob Hunt, Phil Hynes and John Head, 15-17, -2.
Noel Broadhurst, Russell Hyde, Ray Prestney and Kay Plain, 14-19, -5.
Alan Phillips, Tony Canty, Ken Barr and Don Casey, 24-19, +5.
Rosanna 53, Kingsbury 55, -2.
So, there it is, another season done and dusted. All that is left for me to say is thank you, if you have read any of the articles I have posted during the season. I hope they have kept you informed. I am now going into hibernation as all good lizards do, perhaps forever.
But, if you are going to bowl during the winter……….
Keep ’em rolling.
The Lizard.
