As the Rosanna Bowling Club Happy Hour moved into full swing earlier tonight, the excitement built heading into the raffles part of the evening. There was an expectation that the Jackpot draw might go off, as there were only 7 cards, including the joker, left on the table. With the lucky contestant having three chances at cracking the clown, it was fairly good odds.
The raffle was extremely well supported and after the minor draws for the usual meat trays, chocolates, beers and wines was concluded, everybody waited breathlessly for the all telling marble to decide who would play for the big prize.
A much loved and respected social member, Alan Hatty, from the Heidelberg RSL crew , was given his chance. In a brilliant showing of self control, he stepped calmly up to the table to seal his fate. With three shots at the pot, he tantalised the room with his first pick, by drawing a blank, then without any further nonsense, he pulled out the magic card and casually as you please, pocketed $4050.
True to the gentleman’s generosity, the patrons in the Club toasted Alan’s success on him.
Thank you to everyone who generously supported the jackpot throughout the year. You have assisted your club admirably, and next Friday night heralds in a new jackpot starting at $500.
